Anton van Wijk

Anton van Wijk is a criminologist and Managing Director of Bureau Beke. Previously, he worked as a senior researcher at the Dutch Police Academy.

He earned his PhD with the dissertation Juvenile Sex Offenders and Non-Sex Offenders: A Comparative Study and has published extensively, both nationally and internationally, on a wide range of criminological topics.

At Bureau Beke, his work focuses primarily on research into serious forms of crime, with a particular emphasis on sexual offences. He has authored numerous publications in this field.

His recent publications include Doorgeslagen. Een exploratief onderzoek naar gewelddadige verkrachtingen en verkrachters (Beyond the Limits: An Exploratory Study of Violent Rapes and Rapists, Boom Publishers, 2011) and a literature review on juvenile sex offenders published in the Dutch Journal of Sexology (Tijdschrift voor Seksuologie, 2012).

Anton has completed the Criminal Investigative Analysis course as well as the Violent Crime Behavior training provided by the Academy Group in the United States. He is also registered in the expert database of the Dutch Police Academy's National Expertise Broker (Landelijke Deskundigheidsmakelaar, LDM).

He is currently co-authoring a book on serial offenders and is conducting research into misconduct and abuse within cults.
