Henk Manschot

Henk Manschot (1939) studied Theology in the Netherlands, Philosophy at the University of Paris (Sorbonne), and Political Science at the Institut Libre des Sciences Politiques in Paris.

He served as Professor of Philosophy and Ethics at the University of Humanistic Studies in Utrecht from 1989 to 2004 and was also Rector of the university between 1996 and 2000. From 2004 to 2014, he was co-founder and director of the Kosmopolis Institute.

His philosophical work centres on two main themes: the ethics of care for people and the Earth, and political ethics, with a particular focus on global citizenship and what it means to be an inhabitant of the Earth.
